Intimate Warfare wins "Book of the Year"

Micky Ward (born October 4, 1965), is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2003. He challenged for the IBF light welterweight title against Vince Phillips in 1997, and won the WBU light welterweight title in 2000 against Shea Neary. Ward is widely known for his trilogy of fights with Arturo Gatti, two of which received Fight of the Year awards by The Ring magazine, as well as his relentless pressure fighting style. In the 2010 film The Fighter, based on his early career, Ward was portrayed by Mark Wahlberg. Ward's professional record was 38 wins and 13 losses. Micky Ward defeated Arturo Gatti in May 2002 by a ten round split decision. Ward lost his last fight against Arturo Gatti in 2003.

The book Intimate Warfare details the Micky Ward-Arturo Gatti trillogy. It was written by Dennis Taylor and John Raspanti and was published in 2016.
